If you saw my home office, you would see my reading list all around you. I have big stacks of books laying around everywhere. I am generally reading 2-3 books at any given time, and I love to recommend and lend a good book to a friend (sometimes to be seen again).

“BENJAMIN FRANKLIN, AN AMERICAN LIFE” By Walter Issacson
I recently devoured this 586 pager on the life of Benny
Franklin and let me tell you, it is fire.
I loved the classic “Autobiography of Benjamin Franklin” when I was
younger and re-read it twice, so when I heard there was a definitive Biography of Benjamin Franklin, I had
to check it out.
It is all about the
Benjamins, Baby!
B. Franklin achieved more by the age 42 than most people do
in their whole lives. As I am turning
42 years old this year, this is significant to me, a good reminder to me to
stay busy. Not only is this guy an
absolute phenom of achievement, diplomacy, and wisdom, his tale is rife with
intrigue, history, vivid detail, and strategy.
He has an insatiable curiosity for science, and a master of improving
society with collective and pragmatic action. As a business owner and
newsletter writer, his sense of humor and his printing escapades delighted me
to no end. I think he may have been the
best P.R. man in history.
Ultimately, the book does not hide the faults and foibles of
its subject. Benjamin Franklin was
distant from his family at times and too slow to act on slavery.
The book gives a full taste of the times that were some of
the most extraordinary in modern history, from an inside view. If
you are interested in the history of America, I highly recommend you get this
book on your nightstand.
